Upon arriving at Chukka Blue Guests will be given a brief orientation before mounting their horses. Guests don’t have to be accomplished riders our horses are well-schooled and our attentive Tour Guides are available to put lead ropes on for novices and children. There is interesting commentary along the trail highlighting a great deal of Jamaica’s beauty, culture and history which usually remains unseen.

The ride departs from The Blue Hole Estate stables and passes the ruins of the Great House where the late Custos Of Hanover entertained The Queen Of England and The Duke Of Edinburgh. The trail then cuts through the lush mountains where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the coast.

After descending from the mountains the trail continues through the estate to a typical Jamaican farming village and a typical cultivation plot before crossing the Maggotty River to the Maggotty Estate. Here the riders pass the impressive ruins of a 1700’s Sugar And Rum factory.

The tour continues along a cliff that overlooks the bay and leads to the Caribbean Sea. Guests’ ride leisurely along the shore at the edge of an unspoilt mangrove forest to the cove where they dismount for refreshments served in the gazebo. After remounting to swim with the horses in the sea, guests can shower and then just relax until it’s time for the transfer back to the hotel.
